Palawan - El Nido beach is really worth a visit. The whole island is so laid back and relaxed.

Don't bother checking out the subterainial river if you don't have time..

hi :)

there are a lot of beaches nearby that you can check out. usually the beaches in batangas (province) would be the most ideal if you need to go somewhere near manila. it's about two to three hours away from the city depending on where in batangas you want to go.

Guimaras Island and the nearby Panay Island (where the world-famous Boracay is accessible) would be a great inclusion to your trip. Never miss Negros Island also - all these located on the Western Visayas region.

Discover the unspoilt beaches and private resorts in Guimaras Island and hop on to Iloilo and nearby provinces to experience a concoction of local culture and rich historical records. You're guaranteed to be culturally overwhelmed with what you can discover in this former Spanish settlement.

Travelling to Manila via S'pore

Hi,

I have to travel to Manila, Phillippines.

Following are the details of my flight:

1. Kolkata to Singapore by Air India. I would reach S'pore at about 4 AM.
2. Thereafter, I have a separate flight (NOT connecting, booked separately) at 10 AM to Manila.

I am yet to book tickets and need help with some queries.

My queries:
1. Do I need to take transit visa when I land in S'pore so that I can catch my flight to Manila?
2. If yes, how long does the procedure take?
3. How much does S'porean transit visa cost?
4. Are there an inherent issues in booking separate flights? fyi - iam going with separate bookings because it is turning out to be a lot more cheaper than connecting options.

Any other issues that I should care about.

Hi maanand aka Manish,

Are you travelling via Singapore or Bangkok? Why have you posted similar inquiries for both routes?

See this thread http://www.travellerspoint.com/forum_reply.cfm?threadid=56010"e=415328

Are there some more routes coming up?

he hehe...actually we are a bunch of MBA students travelling to Manila this August. So we're finding out the cheapest way to reach Manila.

Prior to Kol->Bnkok->Manila route, we were considering Kol->S'pore->Manila route and hence this query.

Look at the dates of the post, you would be able to co-relate what I am saying :)....

Anyways, thanks for the info...really appreciate it...

Yeah, I checked that too.

I went to Manila via Kuala Lumpur. Just one airlines for the whole route... Air-Asia. One more route for you guys to explore now. :)
To save money for going there, I would have suggested overlanding but unfortunately Philippines is an island and you'll have to fly into it. :P

And if you want to know the places to visit, you can have a look at my site.
