Love lift us up where we belong . . . .

I got an entire box set of "The Shield" - ok it's not a movie but it's excellent! Apparently it used to be on TV here but I never saw it. It's a drama set in a police station in LA.

I saw "I am Legend" a few weeks ago - so dissappointing.

I want to see Be Kind, Rewind but by the time Neal's back it'll be out of the theatres. Anybody want to come? I'll sneak in the M&Ms.

Make it buttered popcorn and you have a deal!

We watched Stardust and Balls of Fury recently. Stardust was very, very good if you like fantasy films. Balls of Fury (a comedy about ping pong) is just one of those stupid films that you like because it's mindless humor. James Hong (who hasn't aged since Big Trouble In Little China - 1986) is the best part of the movie.

War with Jason Statham and National Lampoon's Vacation should be arriving today. (Our best friend gave us a 4 month gift certificate to Netflix for Christmas so we are taking advantage of home delivery.) I've never seen NL's Vacation and keep being told I should... Guess I will now...

Next on the list are all 3 Tales Of The City series. (Based on the books by Armestead Maupin about gay life in San Francisco.) We have seen series 1 and part of 2 but not the 3rd. Looking forward to those. Laura Linney is so young...

I refuse to watch Stardust. I'm a purist and because I read the novel first, I know I'd find fault with the adaptation. I wouldn't be able to watch the movie on its own merits. And I'm particularly irked by the changes, so I'm staying away from the movie. I am disappointed that Gaiman is pushing ahead with the movie version of Coraline too. :(

Watched Juno recently. Was quite okay.

Saw 'Mongol' last week on cheap Tuesday night ($9 a ticket).
A visual delight (the scenery of Mongolia and Kazakhstan is drop-dead) and very little slaughter and mayhem till the end.
The acting is also something to behold.
Sort of a mix of LOTR and 300.
I believe it is the first movie of a trilogy so looking forward to the next one.
