Travel Forums Europe Munich...what to do?

Hey guys, havent been on here in ages!
Am going to Munich for 5 days at over New Years and was wondering if people could recommend places to go, things to do, etc? I am, however, traveling in a group with 5 lads so I'd sy we'll be on the piss for the entire five days to be honest!
Any advice welcome,
Ian

Hello Buffalo:)

Well if being on the piss, going to bars and clubbing is what u want, then head to the Kult Fabric neat the Ost Bahnhof underground station. There are clubs and bars there to suit everyone. I sometimes go there on Saturday nights only, so dont know which other nights it is open. Check the internet.
Be in the city centre at Marion Platz for midnight on New Years eve, because there will be lots of fireworks. There will be fireworks everywhere at that time, but I think the Marion Platz is the most beautiful part of the city to see them.
There is a good Irish bar and an Australian bar near the Marion Platz. I will find out the exact locations and names of them and post them here.

Hello again Buffalo

If u go to Munchener Freiheit underground station u should find plenty of bars and clubs there too.
It is a popular night spot with both Germans and foreigners.

I still have to find out the names of those 2 bars(the Irish one and the Australian).
My boyfriend sometimes goes to them, but he is away until tomorrow night. I will ask him when he gets home.

Hey Buffalo,

Apart from the regular places, bars, sites etc. I'd strongly recommend that you visit
the world famous Beer Hall of Munchen - HofbrÀuhaus

Its off Marion Platz - you cross Marion Platz and at the end go left from under the arc
or ask anyone around.

It is one of its kind beer drinking experience.

There's the Nymphenberg Palace - don't go there. not much to see.
You can go to its garden though - its huge.

and consider taking one of those Hop-on Hop-off buses just to familiarize yourself with the place.
most of the sites are close to the ostbahnhof (the railway station) in a circle.

and also try and go to some beer garden, its a must do in Munich.
(it was raining while i was there. :( )

go the the Kuntzpark area near the Ost-bahnhof in Munich...that is where the true locals go to party...drum and bass clubs, pubs etc...downtown is nice but it's for tourists

Hello Buffalo

I finally have the names and locations of those bars.
Here is a copy and paste of the email my boyfriend sent me about them.

Ned Kelly's is the Australian bar, the other one is called Killians I think. They are both in the same basement. If you walk to the front of the church, they are in a corner, impossible to miss really.

The church he is talking about is called the Frauen Kirke. It is a popular tourist attraction not far from Merion Platz underground station so just ask anybody where it is.
