Hi, I posted a thread here a few months ago about a round the world trip I am planning next year. I had quite a few replies, some great advice and also a few email exchanges with other people about actually meeting up for some of the trip however unfortunately nothing 100% transpired from this, so I'd like repost with the aim of meeting up with others for some of the journey. Here's my original post:
Hey! I am a 28yr old male from the UK, planning a trip around the world (or at least as far as I can get!) without once flying. I am thinking of starting around June 2008 and taking a few months to complete the trip. My rough plan at the moment: London - Moscow (train), Moscow - China (Trans-siberian and connections), China - Australia / NZ (train / ferry / bus), Austrailia / NZ - west US (ferry), across US (train), east US - UK (ferry). I plan to travel as a packbacker so cheap accomodation, sleeping on trains etc, definitely no luxury.
I have already travelled a lot around most of Europe but never much further so this is one of the main motivations for this trip, also I want to do something like this that is really going to be something to remember.
Interested in giving me some advice / experinces from similar travels or maybe joining me for some or all or the way? Drop me a mail!
Well, none of that plan has changed since I posted that except for the addition of Canada into my itenerary. I have now also sorted out which cargo ship I will be taking from Singapore to Australia, New Zealand to the US, and Canada back to the UK, and also that I will get the trans-siberian from Moscow to China, the rest of the trip is going to be planned on a more informal basis nearer the time and when I am actually there. I think this is a pretty unusual trip so if you are interested then obviously you don't have be doing the exact same trip, just meeting up for a part of it would be great!
