OK, so when I was South Africa, I experienced some of their 'local' music and I have been trying to find some on the internet but to no avail.
Would anyone know where to look? Or what to look for?
I don't mean the stuff recorded in a recording studio I mean the 'down to earth' (one man and a drum)' sort of thing.

Panell, thanks for your reply, I know where to look for the music I just don't know what to look for? I have tried the obvious searches but with no avail. Thanks anyway, I will still look on 'youtube' :)

I don't know if this link will help or not, but... It's a directory for African music and contains lots of links. You may just find a site that has what you seek and be able to download.

A good starting point for me is this website, and the magazine (+free cd) they put out: http://www.songlines.co.uk/ I think it is the best source for non-western music, but it covers a lot more than you are asking for at this moment.

If you also like a lot of men on drums, try a google search for Konono #1: http://www.myspace.com/konononr1 (or see who they have as friends on myspace, and see if you like some things there.

You are talking about music, that is not recorded in a studio, so it should be music that is recorded, more of less by accident. That would be really hard to find. Maybe you can find something on Archive.org ???

P.S. Great link Isa, didn't know this one!!!

Found it by accident myself awhile back. Never thought it might come in handy for someone else, but now we'll see...

Wow, that whole sentence structure is really a mess.... (Actually, both of them.) Hope the grammar police won't notice!
