We currently have a one way flight booked from the UK to Jakarta and will be travelling overground to Bali. Before we leave the UK, we need to book an exit flight from Java in order to qualify for an Indonesian visa and need to be in Fiji by February - does anyone know of any useful travel contacts or ways we can travel there cheaply and safely? We dont want to book through international carriers here in the UK as it will be much too expensive. Thanks!
I doubt you will find a direct flight from Bali to Fiji, though I have never tried. I would say that you will have to go via Australia or NZ, Australia would have more flights, Brisbane to Fiji likely the cheapest as its closest of big cities.
I hope you realise that they have had yet another Military Coop there, apparently safe enough,.... on the up side you may get a nice deal there now as it would be about as popular with ozzies as a fly burger.
By the way, your overland through Java would be "exciting" I hope you are catching a train for most of trip. If you take a bus you may be in for a very exciting time. ( read freaking dangerous journey with psyco drivers...) If it must be bus get the most expensive ones for foriegners/ rich if you have firm plans on living long. ( really )
At one time there were flights from Nadi to Jakarta once a week-can't remember the details though.
Now your best bet is almost certainly connecting through Brisbane.
