What do you think my web my website is worth ???

Travel Forums System Talk What do you think my web my website is worth ???

1. Posted by SCOBAHCAN (Budding Member 2 posts) 9y

I have been considering selling my website mainly because my interest in it is nowhere near as strong as it was when I first began it.

I was always told that a travel website was one of the better moneymakers.

I have had 2 SBI certified webmasters work on it over the last year, but my earnings are not what I was told that they should be.

I may be premature in considering this but I decided to sell it or not I would simply like you to look at it and give me your opinion of what you think it is worth.

Thank you Craig

Well, that's not the kind of post we see every day on a travel website-are you sure you posted on the right forum? :) You actually have me curious as to what your website actually is (link)? Also, what is SBI?

SBI stands for "Site Build It!" (marketed as "the ultimate "do-it-yourself" Web site building-hosting-marketing product"). Basically it's a get-rich-quick-through-shelling-out-money-for-our-crappy-product/service-for-'building'-crappy-'websites' scam.

Ah, one of those scams. Now I'm really interested in the link :)

I'm sorry, but that site isn't worth much. The only thing having any value is the content, provided it is all hand written and not copied from other sites. Unfortunately even that wouldn't net you much. Your URL is just way too long for anyone to ever remember so your traffic probably consists of new visits only which means the same concept could be duplicated elsewhere in a much better look and feel I'd say. Your main problem is that the site just really doesn't offer much that makes it stand out against anything else. It doesn't have the traffic to make enough off advertising and it doesn't have any unique products to make money off of that no one else can offer (think local tour companies etc.). Someone might buy it for x times the turnover, where x is unlikely to be more than 10. Provided the site hardly has any costs that is (under 50 USD a month I'd say).

You could try selling on e-bay. But yeah, I wouldn't expect a great deal out of it either.
