Hi dear friends,

I'm going to be on bussiness trip in Phillipines next week. I will stay in a hotel in Manila and work in Laguna.

And when I announced it to some friends, they were affraid that I should not to go.

Because there are some risks of terrorism & bomb attack in Phillippines, especially in Manila.

I have just read the news relating the bomb attack in Quezon city (sorry if i type wrong name) this morning. And it makes me worried.

So please tell me some safety tips in visiting Phils: what I shoud do/ should not do/ what I should bring/ Should I go shopping or eat outside?/ What I must pay attention on/

I see many beautiful sightseeings in Phils through website.
I hope that you can give me some advices.
By the way, how about the weather these days?

Thanks you so much. Hope receive your reply soon.

Terrorists can strike anywhere they want - even New York City or London! Would you avoid going to London or NYC? Would you hide in a hotel room and not go out at all? I don't thinkkkk so!

When you do go to the Philippines you will immediately notice that outside Seven Eleven Stores, malls, nightclubs and hotels armed guards. After a while you don't think about them too much. Yes, your bags will be checked when you enter a mall and even some bars - it's for your own good!

I wouldn't hide in a hotel room because when you do the terrorists win without ever setting off a bomb! Go out enjoy yourself, have fun, shop, go on a tour, eat a lot or find a boyfriend or girlfriend and have a ball! I think you have a greater chance of winning a big money pay-off in a lottery than dying in a terrorist attack. Manila is a big city anyway, you would need a nuclear bomb to get everyone!

You are most likely to over-pay for stuff when bargaining or buy some piece of junk that you thought was just perfect! Take normal precautions that you would in any big city, avoid dark alleys and streets late at night, be careful who you trust, etc. Use the security box for any excess money or valuables. (If something turns up missing it is probably a fellow tourist that ripped you off - not necessarily the hotel workers!

You will notice lots of Christmas decorations if this year is like last year. I think Filipinos like the Christmas season, you start seeing lots of decorations starting in October.

I agree!!! NEVER LET THE TERRORISTS WIN!!! They cannot scare us. They are all a load of chicken shit idiots that would rather hide a bomb in a bin than stand up to you face to face. Never be scared of these idiots. They are NOT everywhere, they are just a tiny minority anyway. Do not believe Bush and his "War On Terror", there is no such thing. Go to the Philippines, it is a wonderful country. I have just returned from there and I loved it.

I support what has been said. Philippines is an amazing country with beautiful people, wonderful warmth and many more. I totally fell in love with the country even though I was there only for a mere ten days.

(:

I remember what my friends used to tell me when I told them I am making a trip to the Philippines; they said to me there are tropical storms and typhoons, it's not a safe country, and all those usual 'how unsafe that place can be'. I told them straight; even though there are tropical storms and typhoons, I'm still gonna go because I'm literally crazy about that country and I want to experience the beauty of it all in my eyes.

Anyway, safety is always a must but never be paranoid. Once you're there, you will feel fine as there are armed forces around shopping malls, stores, et cetera. Have a good trip there!!!
