I want to go to South America in December or January and refine my Spanish while exploring that great continent. I have this romantic idea of starting way down south and taking as long as possible to make it back to the US... and then skipping the US (and home and reality etc) and heading for Europe or something like that.
Anyhoo, if anyone can suggest a good language school in Chile or Argentina or any interesting/really-helpful volunteer organization in either country: as a good start it would help.
by the way- are December and January good months to go to Chile or Argentina?
I do not know much in argentina, but in Chile languajes school are very expensive. Much better to try to find a place like a chilean family where you can pay for a room and practice with the family. Try to ask in places where you can give a hand, like a guest house or small restaurant in popular places for summer time.
January and february are great to travel in Chile, but as is high season everything is more expensive and crowded, recomended to book everything in advance, hostals, flights, tours... The half of chile has holidays on January and the other half on february, december is better if you want to avoid crowds, from last days of dec. the season starts.
Do not hesitate to contact me if I can help you
thanks for all the info kamuria. i'll be sure to ask you if i need any more help!
