I am going with two friends to Milan for four days over New Year. Never been to Italy before. Does anyone have any suggestions on must see/do things there? Thanks:)

Just a couple of things that are usually of iterest: galleria vittorio emanuelle - follow this into the main piazza to see the duomo (main cathedral) where you can climb to the top for a beautiful view. La Scala (the opera house) is a main attraction, also you can go see Leonardo's Last Supper which has been restored. These are just the main highlights that I can remember. For all kinds of culinary delights to take home with you, go to Peck's. The shopping is incredible so bring lots of cash! Lonely Planet gives a good overview of the city here milan Have a great time!

For the spare time, there are many clubs and bars in Milan. On of the most chic areas to party is Corso Como (ask any taxi driver, they will take you there) where some of the most famous clubs are: Hollywood (where many football players celebrate in vip area) and many other bars. Another remarkable club is Old Fashion (which often hosted George Clooney), but it's in another area of the city. I'm not that updated so just take these as few generic tips. Better fot you to ask more precise and fresher infos by locals. The prices are not very low: ex. a drink= 7/8 Euros. Don't let the general elegant/ trendy atmosphere discourage you: these places have all kind of people, even if Milan is a trandy fashionable city, so an effort about dress and look is necessary in order not to be too out of place.
