Hi,

I am going to visit Eastern Europe around New year's day.
Would you give me any advice with my plan? For example, wrong direction, accomodation, caution,
transportation, and things shouldn't be missed.

Start :
DEC 28-29 Gdansk, Poland
29 Kalisz or Warsaw (friend's home)
30 Oswiecim
(Slovakia?? because I can not find bus or train line from Poland to Budapest via Slovakia)
31-3 Budapest

JAN 4 NOT DECIDED YET, but maybe to Riga, Latvia. Because I need to come back to Finland.

Most of all, I want to know how to get to Budapest from Poland.

Thanks,

Wonsuk

Wizz Air flies on Dec 31st from Warshaw to Budapest. Fare is currently 60 EUR. Looks like your best option, if you do not want to go via Slovakia to Budapest.

Now I can make further plan from Budapest.
Why there are no train line(EURAIL) through Slovakia?

Anyway, Thanks!

Actually there are trains from Poland to Slovakia and on to Hungary, you just need to know where to look.

http://www.bahn.de has the best search engine and http://www.jizdenka.cz has some of the fares.

What doesn't exist is a Eurail pass for these countries. You'll have to buy point-to-point tickets. From Oswiecim to Budapest the fare with train is approx. 60 EUR and travel time is approx. 9-10 hrs.

I caught a eurolines (www.eurolines.com) bus from Budapest to Krakow, so I assume they go the other way (or am I being a bit naive?).
