Hi everyone,

Not quite sure which forum suits this topic best but decided I would let all of you know Travellerspoint has now officially been live for one year (more or less, I can't remember the exact date but think it was the 11th of August - Pete???).

Anyway, a big THANKS to YOU is in place. What started out as a pretty small site has become something bigger than we ever dreamed, that is for sure. I remember the first weeks.... we were happy to get a member a day, most of them friends of ours anyway! At the moment, (unfortunately) we can't even welcome everyone that joins up every day anymore, there are just too many. Travellerspoint now has over 3500 members and several thousand visitors every day. It is great to see that there are so many like minded travellers out there, all sharing tips and information, photos, personal experiences, using their time to help others and generally just having a good time. We aim to keep it that way and to continue building a thriving Travel Community that brings travellers together before, during and after travelling.

Thanks again!!!

Sam and Pete

Well, I actually think you've jumped the gun there a little Sam.
After checking the records, the 24th looks like the day it all began.

Still, it's been a pretty good 11 months and couple of weeks ;)
To think that after that whole year we still have at least as many ideas for expanding now as we did back then.

Thanks to everyone for being a part of this. We look forward to seeing you all around more during this next year.

Sam and Peter,

whether it's 11 months + a few weeks or 12 months doesn't matter to me: Thanks a lot for creating this place... it's really, really good, I check almost every day and always enjoy seeing new posts in the forums... You've done a wonderful job both of you... thanks again..

Hi Solvejg,

Thanks for the kind words and for being such an active member and forum poster/moderator! We enjoy working with the site and creating it has been a lot of fun!

When I was travelling in Australia and just about to leave, a friend sent me the following text which sums up a lot about why we got started doing this in the first place I reckon.

"We need to travel. If we don't offer ourselves to the unknown, our senses dull. Our world becomes small and we lose our sense of wonder. Our eyes don't lift to the horizon. Our ears don't hear the sounds around us. The edge is off our experience & we pass our days in a routine that is both comfortable and limiting. We wake up one day and find we have lost our dreams in order to protect our days. Don't let yourself become one of these people!" by Kent Newburn

For those days, weeks, months or years we can't travel, we hope the site keeps the experience alive!

Ha det,

Mikey, this thread is almost 4 years old and you managed to dig it up!
You either have too much time in your hands, or you're trying to be the second member ever to have read all the TP forum threads!
