I am going to Hong Kong in Jan, and thanks to few people on here i am going straight to Kowloon. I want to book my first night stay before i get there so i dont have to go searching for one when i get there. I would like to stay in a hotel the 1st night to sease myself in.
Has anyone got any good, but cheap hotel tips, advice or where i can find them. I would like ti be close to thelively areas of kowloon where ever that may be!???
Any tips or advice would be great.
Mirador mansions is okay its basically a 15 story building with several hotel/guesthouses on each floor I booked one through this site and it was quite nice USA hostel, which is on the 7th floor (the reception is on the 12th or 13th though so don't be suprised if you get taken there initially. Be aware that the lifts are turned off at 10pm which is great fun when you've had a few beers and you have 7 flights of stairs to climb!!
Chungking mansions is the same but a bit grottier
Get over to Hong Kong Island for a few beers as its much freindlier, and don't miss the skyscraper show everynight at at 8pm which is a spectacular sight.
P.s. get used to being asked if you want a suit watch or handbag every 3 seconds!!
I also stayed in the USA Hostel about 4weeks ago and it was a nice clean place - its true about the lifts but once inside u can walk around the corner where the other lift is which not many people seem to know about so always avoided the pain Sam had of walkin upstairs haha
The Skyscrapers Lightshow on the harbour at 8pm is just a truly stunnin spectcular show - I got some amazing pictures
