I will be taking the KTM Train from KL Sentral to Singapore on Dec 8, but I am not too sure how exactly it works as in where does the train stop in Singapore, where do we get off the train at the custom @Woodlands checkpoint and get back to the train to reach the final train station... etc.
I did some research over the internet and from the look of it, the train shall stop at Tanjong Pagar train station. Does anyone know how far is the train station from the nearest MRT station? Will it be anywhere within walking distance? I am planning to reach Changi Airport to meet a friend on the same evening that I am trying to figure how possibly to reach Changi Airport after my arrival at the Tanjong Pagar train station.
I hope someone from the community here can be of great help.
Thank You in advance for those who shall contribute his/her two cents to this thread.
Really appreciate it!
I also went by train from KL Sentral to Singapore. First the train will halt on the Malaysian border(Dont remember the station though) where u dont need to get down the train, Malaysian immigration officials will check ur documents in train itself. Once the train reaches Woodland on singapore side, u need to get down the train for the necessary formalities. The train halts here for around an hour. Once this is over, u need to board the train again for the final destination which is just a few minutes away.
Once u reach the last station, u can get out, get a map of MRT and locate the station nearest to you. I stayed near the Dhobi Ghaut MRT station, from which the Changi airport was 40 minutes though u have to change trains.
the train station is located between two MRT stations, Tanjong Pajar and Outram Park, about 1 km away from both. There're bus-stops in front and opposite the train station which should have buses to bring you to the MRT. I'm not sure which bus-stop or bus number though, there should be some infodesk where you can ask at the train station, or perhaps just flip through Lonely Planet or some other guide and you may find the answer.
I usually see people with luggages and backpacks at Outram Park rather than Tanjong Pagar (which is within the CBD) so perhaps that's the station to go to. The two MRT stations are located on the green East-West line which heads directly to the airport. Take the east-bound train towards Pasir Ris and Changi Airport and get off to change trains at Tanah Merah station (just head to the middle-platform for the service to the airport). The entire trip should take about 30-45min.
The MRT station at Changi Airport is located at the basement of Terminal 2. If you're meeting your friend at Terminal 1 just head up to the departure hall and take the free skytrain service over. Terminal 3 is also open for public visits until 9th Dec (certain hours only) before it's official opening next year so you may even hop over to see what it's like.
Many thanks arif_kool and sapphyre.
The information given should do me good to find my way there!
Great help there definitely!
