OK, so a simple thread...
Anyone spent Christmas & New Year on the islands of Thailand? Where? Was it any good? What did you do?

I spent last Christmas on Phi Phi. It was utterly fabulous for us. It was quite busy, lots of people in their 20's, lots of great parties, lots of fun. There was a great atmosphere and the beaches are amazing - lovely clear waters & white sand to banish the hangover. BUT, if you are looking for a more relaxed vibe, you should probably go somewhere else! I had a headache for a week after leaving there.

I spent Christmas and New Year a couple of years ago in Koh Pha Ngan and it was excellent (going back again this year). Full Moon was on the Boxing Day so it seemed even busier than it normally is for a Full Moon.

Koh Tao!! Everyone falls in love with it as soon as they arrive! Also it is right next to Koh Pan Ngan, which means that the full moon party is close by if you want it. We had a truly fantrastic christmas in koh tao, not too busy, but more than enough people, bars and restaurants to make for a great new year
