Travel Forums Round the World Travel RTW - longer than 12 months?

I’m planning an around the world trip and was wondering if you can go for longer than 12 months on around-the-world tickets?

I was thinking something like 18 months or so... :)

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi Nikki,

there´s posts on this subject already on the site. Have a search and you might get more info.

As a rough guide, they tend to limit the travel time to 12 months on all RTW tickets.

I´d suggest looking at your route and maybe trying to end up after 12 months somewhere where you can buy the final leg quite cheaply.

For Example, we end up in Hong Kong before we fly direct back to the UK... However, we fancy spending another 6 months doing China and India etc. Which we´ll try and do overland and so have to scrub off the return flight from Hong Kong and maybe pay the extra for a single from India to the UK.

It´s more expensive, however, it means we can spend longer travelling.

Just and idea,
