Unless you need your laptop for business you could leave it at home because there are lots and lots of cheap internet shops.

I always stay in the Ermita area, some bars have wifi availability. You can always bring your laptop into an internet shop and pay the going rate.

Yeah, there is lots of chicken in restaurants. You can even sometimes find fully cooked roasted chicken in supermarkets. Of course, McDonalds, and Burger King have their "chicken?" meals too! KFC and Kenny Rogers restaurants specialize in chicken.

Skip fast food - go to a Phillippine restaurant. The cooking is excellent! For chicken you should try Chicken Adobo. Also, like everywhere in Asia you also find Fried Chicken. The food is more tasty and less hot than in other SE Asias countries.
Remember rice goes with everything.

If you are lucky enough to get invited to a Fiesta - a party at somebody's home, you will be served Letchnon. Letchon is a whole roasted pig, and the whole neighborhood takes part in both the slaughtering in the morning, the roasting and the eating. Sometimes so many people come they eat all up. If you are not used to this its feel very special. They do serve Letchon at restaurants also. You should try it even if you prefer chicken.

Rice, rice and more rice. The Filippinos do like their rice. I love the garlic fried rice with flavoured oil on it. Oh, and eat with your fingers, it really does taste better. There is also a lot of chicken there, chicken adobo and also from Negros in the Visayas there is Chicken Inasol which everyone eats there, although I am not sure if they do in Manila. If you do decide to go to some fast food places make sure you go to Chow King, it does lovely chinese food and is very popular in Philippines. Also try their cheese waffles (not Chow Kings, just on the street) and they have lovely fruit that I have never had in the UK called Lanzones, they are gorgeous. Oh and you must try coconut pie (Buko pie) it really is stunning!!!!!

Oh and plenty of internet cafes by te way.

If you are vegetarian u wil be ok, I am also a vegetarian and in most places I just asked for the food to be made but without the meat in it and as most places make the food fresh they wil do it for you. Even in fast food places like Chow King!!! Imagine that, a fast food place where people listen and cook u what you want!!! hehe. Just think what the look on the face of a McDonalds employee would be like if you dared to ask them for something to be cooked slightly differently!!!! hehehe

There are cheap net cafes over there in Philippines. The ones I go to were at Malate area as I was staying there. As for the food, always try Filipino restaurants. You'd love their food, absolutely amazing! You ought to try the adobo, sinigang and if you take pork, try lechon.

Hi there!

Lots and lots and lots of cafes and restaurants that offer wifi access around the metro already, so no problems with your laptop. Most business hotels along Arnaiz Avenue in Makati already offer wifi even in their rooms.

There are also some vegetarian options here, but you won't run out of CHICKEN dishes to choose from :) I try to avoid pork and beef as much as I can, and I'm not going hungry :)

Holler when you're here! I'd be happy to meet up with you! :)
