Hi there,

How easy is it to change flight dates with a RTW ticket? i have booked an paid my ticket fee in full. i want to change some flight dates as at present i have 12 weeks in New zealand but i can not afford to spend this much time there 8 weeks is ample (i think!) and i want to spend some more time in Fiji.
Advice on this would be great when i booked the ticket in sta i had to put all dates in and it has left 7 days in some places i want to stay weeks!!!
Do i contact STA or the flight company directly to change flight dates?
Also is it possible to change destinations on the ticket?

Thanks

Danielle

well it depends on how far away your trip is in order to change destinations - as its like starting all over again i believe!

with regards to date changes - these can be done @ a charge of £35 - now im not sure if this is per flight or the lot as a whole .... i suggest you call STA travel directly

agree,

phone STA and ask them

We booked ours with STA and we don´t pay for alterations to the tickets.

This is because we fly with "The Great Escapade" which doesn´t charge for date changes. However, if you´re with One World (BA and AA) or with Star Alliance (BMI etc.) then I think you have to pay for any date changes and destination changes might no be possible.

Phone them anyway and see what they say.

When I needed to change the dates on my rtw ticket I called the airline directly and then they put it through for me for no charge fairly easily. I think depending on where you go, you may get charged a fee for using a travel agent as not only can it be time consuming but can also be difficult to do a date change depending on the availability of L class seats (on a One World Fare) or a different class on other alliance's round the world fares.

With the itinerary change if you have not commenced travel yet, then depending on the fare you have it may be possible for itinerary changes. Fees definitely would apply as no travel consultant will do this extremely painful and time consuming job for free, when it is taking up a lot of time that could be spent earning money.
