I'm not too sure where any of those places are. But I can give you some suggestions. Most of them are hostels.

Rome:
Sandy Hostel- Pretty convenient location. About a block away from a subway station that can take you to the city centre.

Florence:
Archi Rossi- I did not stay here, but I wish I did. It has a central location, which is what most travellers look for, next to cost.
I stayed at the HI, which is 30 min outside of town.

Venice: I stayed at the Carlton Hotel (my mom came to Venice and she payed for it). I would suggest for someone to stay in a town called 'Mestre', while in Venice. Its about a 10 minute train ride away from the city. Venice is very expensive and you could save a bundle staying there.

Milan: I stayed at Postello. Wasn't my favorite, but it was dirt cheap. I didn't like Milan that much. I found the city to be a bit overrated.

As for your plan, you're kind of zigzagging all over Italy. I'd either start from the north and work my way south or vice versa. Try your best to accomplish this. (For Instance, arrive in Naples and depart from Venice. Any money you might save using the same airport both times, you will spend in regional transportation.) If you absolutely must arrive and depart from Rome, I'd check out Ryan Air (ryanair.com) for discounted flights so you can cover long distances for cheap. Otherwise, you'll be spending far more time and money in transit that you don't need to.

All hotels are in bad locations, out of the town near highways. These hotels are good if you want to arrive by car, but are bad if you travel by train and subway.

In Milan even the address makes this clear: TANGENZIALE OVEST KM 19 - the "tangenziale" highway at kilometer number 19.

The furthest away is

Venice : NOVOTEL WEST
AM AUHOF
A-1140 VIENNA
AUSTRIA

It is 585 km from Venice train station to Auhof, Vienna, Austria. Totally different country!

STUPID AGENT!

I also would not go to Milan, I would spent more time in Venice or Florence instead.

Hi
I live near Sheraton Hotel in Florence and I have to say that's not a convenient place to stay for a short time, without your own car..

Jeez - what an odd travel agent!

They've also booked you at some of the most expensive places to stay. I'd say go for a B&B or even a private room in a hostel, if you can. Much better chance of being centrally located and you'll save a TON of money.

Someone here recommended Cross-Pollinate to me a while back, and I found decent accommodation through them. Try to stay clear of the Termini in Rome, though, and you should be alright!

i stayed near the termini in rome and it was fine... there are dodgy types hanging around it but i didnt find it that daunting as a single female traveller
