Travel Forums Asia Vietnam-how much time do we need?

Hi!

I'm sure this question is answered loads of times before, but just short:

Is 2 weeks ok to get from Ho Chi Min to Hanoi, or will 3 weeks be more realistic?

Thanks in advance:)

Hiya

Personally to do Vietnam justice and not cram everything in 3 weeks is more realistic - l just spent 3.5 weeks there and it was a comfortable time - perhaps a few more days and l couldve spent some more days in Mui Ne or on Cat Ba Island which were just devine!

i spent a month there and could have easily stayed longer...had to skip a few places i wanted to see because of visa issues. id say two weeks would really be rushing it!

Marianne,
I have done the open tour bus: HCMC to HaNOi, and HaNoi to HCMC. It does take at least 3 weeks to travel the length of VN w/o rushing from city to city. 3 weeks gives you some beach time and lets you stay another day or two in a place that you enjoy. I am sure you will want a few days in Hoi An for some custom clothes. Every woman I saw did some serious shopping while in Hoi An.

I have plenty of VN photos in my gallery that may help with your planning. Send me a PM if you have specific questions.

I would agree with the previous posts - I spent 3.5 weeks there and would have loved more.

Thanks for answers!

That'll help me and my friend a lot. we' were wondering whether we should apply for the vietnam visa or not. For norwegian citizens it's not required until 15 days. But we'll defenitly do that now.

Looking forward to a great stay!

Now that was bad luck. You will have to go back when it is not so dampish and 'shop till you drop'.
