I take your point Mel BUT I'm with Magy on this one

Imagine if an insurance company pointed out that white people had fewer accidents than people of other racial backgrounds - would they be allowed to offer "white people only" car nsurance?

Aryan Insurance - for all your white motoring needs . . .

Im sure you'd agree that it was okay if it was males that got cheaper insurance Mel?

Yes it would be experineced as more offensive by non white people if insurance companies said that white people cause fewer accidents than other races and therefore should have cheaper insurance.
I think because of the repeated discrimination non white people, women and the others have experienced they would feel the offence of the past discrimination as well as the one that is currently being inflicted. It is known as the 90/10 theory. 10% of the pissed off feeling would be because of the current discrimination and 90% of it would be because of the trigger that causes old wounds to be reopened. I think insurance companies would think that this level of bad feeling would not be good for business so even if it was true they would not say that white people cause fewer accidents and give them cheaper insurance because of it.

Anyway this reminds me. What about gender pay discrimination. It is about time that changed. Companies will make all kinds of excuses about men negotiating more than women do. With so many women in the work place these days isnt it about time that companies stop expecting women to behave like men do. Surely it is enough that we perform at the job without the strain of having to go against our natures as well. Shouldnt pay raises be related to work effectiveness of an individual rather than on who is more pushy(for want of a more flattering adjective).

It would certainly be beneficial for our household budget because I cant drive. That cheaper insurance would be wasted on me. Best for us that they give it to my boyfriend.
But I dont think that should happen because I dont think the world revolves around me and my boyfriend.

Don't start it with her mikeyBoab, she's just beginning to be tolerable - even enjoyable to communicate with if I may say so

Come on. Admit it. I like him anyway. He keeps me amused.
Maybe I should start a thread asking people if they agree that u and he are suspiciously similiar.
Same writing style and mindset are a dead give away.

He's a nut. A decent nut, but a nut never the less.
