i think i watched that stephen hawkins video on space. it kind of put me to sleep, but his chair is the most hi-tech chair i have eva saw. and isnt there something about space being stretched out like a rubber band.... one day it might snap. errr. that is why i am not a science major.
Ow my brain hurts It's one of those questions isn't it - one that you think of when your at work and your mind starts wondering such as why is apple called apple and all that jazz I personally believe space is infinitive but then again maybe not....we just don't know.
I did actually work it out once, but I was very stoned at the time, and I've forgotton now.
I suppose that doesn't really help much.
Im going to go off topic here, but you just reminded me of something i thought of once -
scientists always say that the universe is always made up of the same amount of matter. there is always the same amount of stuff in existence. everything that gets made/born/created is just the same molecules getting broken down and put back together as something else.
fair enough, but the matter had to come from somewhere right? where did the first atom of oxygen come from? so what if somewhere in this infinite universe, or in some other dimension that you have to jump off the ball to get to, brand new stuff is still getting created? What if one day we find this source, and figure out how it happens? we'd actually be able to make the matter of life itself.Im sure its impossible but i like the idea.
To combine two issues mentioned here.
Why don't we supply stoned people with one of those brain-wave-deciphering-voice-box-machine-thingys that Stephen Hawking uses to find the answer?
Lateral thought always wins....well, that and a bag of weed.
i think that just like you have the earth (round) and all these different planets in our universe, you have our universe (round) and all these different universes in some other space not yet defined, what we need to find out now is how to travel out of this universe just like thousands of years ago when they figured out how to get of the earth.
Maybe our planet, to the edge of our solar system, right to the edge of our galaxy, right past billions of other galaxies, to the edge of the known universe, past that, breaking out to the space beyond, and onwards and onwards etc. is simply a small insignificant area of a tiny particle of dust in some other 'world'. Anyone buying that?
