I just have a question about how to take large amounts of money when traveling. Is it better the take travelers checks or these ATM cards? I also don't completely know how the ATM cards work - can i get them from my local bank, and will they work overseas, also is there an extra charge to withdrawal, and then another charge from my bank at home? Looking for the cheapest and most convenient way.

thanx B

ps, sorry if there is already a post about this just didn't c it

It depends where you're going. Of the places I've been in Asia there's usually been loads of ATMs which work as long as your card is part of Plus or Cirrus.

I'd recommend checking specifically for wherever you're going though.

I usually rely for the most part on my ATM card, but have a small stash of travellers cheques and dollars just in case.
