Though i would just add my 2cents worth even though u have booked it all now!!

My mate and i are heading to london at the start of june 08, we looked at booking contiki but eventully just decided against it. The major reason being that you only really spend 1 or 2 nights in one place and then your back on the bus moving on again this isnt really enough time to c one place and if you really like it you will ovisoully want to stay there longer plus if u hit the piss and have a big night u could spend your only day there passed out or hugging a toilet. (yes i am a drunkin aussie haha). As for going back to the places u liked after your tour, i didnt think this was a very good idea because u will prob spend twice as much money backtracking and it may not be as you remembered it plus there could be a festival on that u really wanna stay 4. Neways we will be over there at the same time so u might c me passed out on a bench as u drive past in your bus haha.

Cant wait though have just booked everything myself!!

well thats fair enough really... vegemite isnt easy to come across over here, n if you DO find it, its expensive. Ive run out... and am not happy about it either.

true - backtracking is wasteful! of time and money...

the places i really want to do well im doing them myself
these are my plans in a nutshell...

flying emirates to dubai-athens-ciaro
then a tour of egypt
fly to london- spend time doing that myself
then topdeck tour which goes to
paris, french riviera, all of italy, switz, vienna, budapest, krakow, prague, berlin, amsterdam, through belgium, then back to london.
then ill have a break and do maybe a bit more of london, or ireland, then travel through france maybe go to paris again then travel done the west side, so lorie valley, etc myself through to spain,
backpack through spain and portugal
fly to athens to meet a friend, then doing a cruise of greek islands, and some of turkey
that finishes in athens then do a bit of greece and turkey then spend a few days doing nothing on a greek island,
then fly home

so my time is half DIY, half tour, so i think it will be great for me personally to go on tour for a lot of reasons, and the bits i really really wanna do well im doing them myself (well except for egypt but im not doing that myself!!)

so i wont probs go back tracking to the places the tour does, just what the tour doesn't do and where i wanna spend more time.
ill defs be back, although probs africa will be my next trip, but i can wait i think its going to be great both on and off the tour!!
please continue with travel tips, a gal cant get enough of those ;)

ahh backtracking is fine! I go back to places all the time. Berlin especially! And Istanbul! They are great cities - why not.

well if ur in Edinburgh, and u need a fix for the mite, you can come to my flat, my Aussie flatmate has it stashed around our place in case he gets a surprise Veggiemite hunger. We have loads of it.
