No doubt you get this question a lot, I'm off to SEA for a few months then on to OZ and finally working in New Zealand for a year. I haven't got a clue what backpack to get and any recommendations from you guys would be most welcome, I like the look of the Jalan 60+15 but can't find any reviews on it?
If you are not carrying a tent, go for a smaller backpack. 50+15 should be the ultimate max, a 40+10 would be better. Don't drag all the clothes you need for your year in NZ with you, they will only be cumbersome. Take your oldest clothes instead, throw them away as you go and buy new stuff in SEA and when you need it in NZ.
Berghaus is a good company, the Jalan should be fine if a bit large for your purposes.
A good backpack in the lower range of sizes is the ACT lite from Deuter. SL means "female fit".
The best backpack however is always the one that fits you best. Try things out with weights in a good shop before you buy.
