can someone advise me please on which to get and how long before my trip - as i could head to my GP before i leave but i heard some vacinations are not to be taken untill just before you go as some only last 6 months or so ...
also has anyone ever left it till they had started thier RTW trip and get the Vacinations on thier Travel Insuarance?
many thanks Gurus
As always, see your physician or visit the travel health clinic about the vaccinations and anti-malarials that best suit your plans. I will send information and recommendations to you in a PM tomorrow. Also check the TP Wiki Travel Health section as it contains links to several informative sites. I'm sure others will post their suggestions/recommendations too.
I agree with Isadora that you should go to a travel clinic for vaccinations and anti-malarials.
You will need vaccinations for Hepatitis A, and typhoid and any boosters that are not up to date including tetanus, polio, measles etc... All of these give protection for at least a couple years- the only thing with Hepatitis A is you need a booster 6 months after the first to give prolonged protection. You will also need anti-malarials for thailand, malaysia and India if you are going on a typical backpacker-type route. I would make an appointment and discuss it with your doctor.
perfect response - i have all the info i need now - just going to book my apointment with my Doctor and see what the damage is
thanks CanadaGuy for the heads up on making sure im up to date on the 'tetanus, polio, measles etc' vacinations, i hadnt thought to check for that - best to get everything ticked off the list!
