I will be arriving shortly in Quito but need to be in Lima 9 days later to pick up a pre-booked tour. Is it possible to travel from Quito to Lima by bus in this short space of time picking up some stops along the way?
Would be interested to hear if this is possible and what would be the best route, or would it be best to spend longer in Quito and catch a flight to Lima?
Hope you can help!

It is possible,I know that it is from Guayaquil to Lima about 24-30 hrs.by bus.So you could go by bus to Guayaquil, see on your way Banos,Cuenca..so you would not have to much time for stops but still see a lot.
its possible, we did it a few months back, u get completely sick of buses after it though!!
We went quito, cuenca-stop, loja-stop, macara-stop for the night, then crossed border in the morning, great crossing, very simple. then caught a colectivo taxi to sulinas, then bus to piura, from there onto chiclayo-stop, then trujillo for a few days(food poisoning at a nice resturant there...) then Huaraz which we absolutely loved, then the night bus to lima from there.
If you dont mind busses, then go for it! but my body still hasn't forgiven me for it!!
