Hi there,

I've been looking around for places to staying Barcelona and I've found a reasonable looking apartment but I'd just like to check that the location is alright.

It's in Barri Gotic but fairly near the port and Born area.
There's a map of its location on this page: -

Any advice would be appreciated.

it's a very good area, near everything. and the apartment looks good. there are plenty of nice restaurants around and you'll be able to go everywhere on foot.

hi!
if you r going for travelling - all that area around La Rambla - is great.
there are many hotels, apartments and hostels there, most of them pretty good.
Closer to the port - prices getting lower, but area geting chubby and unsafely at nights, also market area could be unpleasant at night time, even it's the very central.
Opposite direction of la rambla is nicer n , not surprising, gettin more expensive.
I staid at the area of Opera (~ in the middle of la-rambla) , in hostel at one of sides streets - just crossing la rambla is your Gotic Quartal. It is exsellent area to live.
Barcelona is amazing!
enjoy it
