Travel Forums Asia Thailand: Andaman Island Hopping

We will be in Thailand in Jan. 08 and we will be travelling north up the Andaman coast visiting various islands. As it stands we will begin our adventure on Koh Lipe and visiting the other islands in the Tarutao National Park. From there we plan on getting a ferry to Koh Lanta (from Koh Lipe) which stops at Ko Muk along the way, so we might jump off there for a couple days. From Koh Lanta we take a day trip to Phi Phi and on then its on to Phuket. From Phuket a day trip out to the Similan Islands and then over to the gulf to hit Ko Samui, Koh Phangan, and Ko Tao. We plan on this portion of our trip taking between 2-3 weeks.

I was looking for some insight on if this sounds like a good itinerary, time restraints, pro's/con's, any tips on Ferry's, any islands I didn't list that we can't miss, islands we should skip, good beach snorkeling spots, etc...

We would like to get a broad taste of the island life and keep our options flexible. Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

AJ

Sounds like a great plan to me!! My only suggestion would be to try to take more time visiting the islands if you can, as you will definately fall in love with some or all of them and want to stay longer. I personally couldnt leave phi phi. Dont just do a day trip to phi phi don tho, as there is a lot to do there for such a small island, and you have to do a day trip from phi phi don to phi phi ley, which although very touristy (although when i was there a couple of years ago there was hardly anyone there) it is one of the places in the world that you have to see if, and I expect you do, you like beaches. It really is stunning. Its where they filmed The Beach film.
