I just have my car licence a few month ago so in france they call me a young driver for 3 years ! i want to go with two friends of mine in america to see a part of the country during 2 months ! one of them has a young car licence too so we are two drivers ! We want to buy a car in boston like a minivan and drive it around america but do we need a special car licence like a international one? And do we need something special to have a insurance? and how much it will cost per month?
I hope we can buy a car because america is so huge and it will be perfect to go wherever we want !
I hope someone can look through this matter:.
You need to bring an International Drivers License (IDL) with you. It is recognized by our police as a legal document, allowing a foreigner to drive here in the US. You can legally buy a van/car here at 18. I have done the math for a Brit and if you are here over 6 weeks, it makes sense to buy rather than rent. I helped a Brit several months ago buy a Dodge Grand Caravan. It is a good choice as it gets decent gas mileage, has enough room to sleep in it and are cheap to buy. Many for less than 2K. Take a look at one on ebay. Insurance cost him $100/month when using an IDL.
Send me a PM if you have questions.
thank you a lot vegasmike6 so i'll ask as soon as possible for that licence. You answered at all my requests, that's wondeful.
I see you maybe on the road.
