I don't think this is the best list.

Bands with a lot of hits, have the problem that a lot of their music is well known, so people vote on too many different tracks, that all end up, rather high, but not on top. So that already gives a false perspective. (fans of Deep Purple, will only vote for Child in time, or Smoke on the water, the rest of the songs have no chance at all, for Led Zep, the same either Stairway, Whole lotta love or Kashmir).

Another thing is that a lot of really good music, never had proper airplay. (whether because of bad management, wrong time, wrong music or just because it was never released as a single.) I really liked the idea of a top 2000 back in 1999, but now I would rather hear the top2000 of songs I've never heard before. That would be much more interesting.

It is easy to pick on the number one, but Bohemian Rhapsody really is a remarkeble song. If you really study the song come across some great tunes, and sometimes really odd, changes, that for one reason or an other work. But in my opinion Bohemian Rhapsody might not even the best song of Queen.

LOL, great reply on that one Jase.
Must admit, lots of tracks are way to high on the list and of course it is based on dutch taste only, which is not that good sometimes to say the least.
What would be your top 5 by the way, apart from Led Zeppelin? O by the way, Led Zeppelin performs in London. The first time in 20 years that they are together again.

Personally, I think it is hard to just say what my top 5 would be, it changes all the time although I have some alltime favorites, like Paranoid, Black Sabbath.
But I also have rather weird tastes compared to the top lists. For example Murray Head with One night in Bangkok I just like a lot. And I miss some great dance hits like Safri Duo with Played Alive and some Faithless music.
On the other hand, I miss some golden oldies from the sixties. For some reason I just like Mrs. Robinson....
And Trouble or Lets Talk of Coldplay I found way better than Clocks.

And certainly no Robbie W. or Bryan A. in the list, not even top 1000!

And uhm Jase...Golden Earring...it is Dutch;)

A top 5, well that's a bloody hard one as it would have to depend on what your looking at. Music being the emotional this it is, my taste changes with my mood. Thus a top 5 could be rated on such things as - quality, memories, etc.. top 5 albums would be easier.
But, rated in no particular order:
Moody blues - nights in white satin
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Voodoo Chile - Jimmy Hendrix
Wrapped around your finger - The Police
Long & Winding road - The Beatles

then there are one's like:
The kinks - waterloo sunset
AC/DC - highway to hell
Rolling Stones - painted Black
Manic street preachers - if you tolerate this
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - under the bridge
Tasmin Archer - sleeping satellite
Metallica - Nothing Else matters
Elvis Presley - Suspicious minds
Oasis - don't look back in anger
Paul Weller - wild wood
Cold Chisel - Bow River
The Eagles - hotel California

ah hell too many to list

Ok,
It's the end of the year again and on the radio in the Netherlands we can hear one Top 1000 after another, every radiostation has it's own.
In general thought Veronica has the best list and this is their top 20. What do you think and do you have such yearly lists as well on the radio?? O, by the way, the top 3 is not sure yet, still able to vote on that.

1. Queen Bohemian Rhapsody - sick to death of it, I feel like I've run a marathon after hearing it - exhausting
2. U2 One - a great song, but not as great as everyone makes out.
3. Guns 'n' Roses November Rain - great stuff. Goes for 5 minutes too long though
4. Led Zeppelin Stairway To Heaven - again, sick to death of it. Plus, isn't there satanic messages in it when played backwards?
5. Robbie Williams Angels - yeah, love this one. Reminds me of good times
6. Metallica One - dunno it
7. Meat Loaf Paradise By The Dashboard Light - pity he didn't write the lyrics to this song, then eat them.
8. Dire Straits Brothers In Arms - a shockingly bad, nauseating producing, over-rated steaming turd of a song
9. Golden Earring Radar Love - not bad, I'd put it at number 900 or so
10. Coldplay Clocks - good the first 1,000 times you here it, a bit over it now though
11. Bryan Adams Summer Of 69 - contrived shite
12. Eagles Hotel California - someone kill me - please
13. Phil Collins In The Air Tonight - see above
14. Deep Purple Child In Time - do I know this song?
15. Queen I Want To Break Free - sounds like something written by a 10 year old child
16. Prince Purple Rain - pure, unadulterated torture to listen to. If they don't play this to prisoners at Guantanomo Bay, they should.
17. AC/DC Whole Lotta Rosie - yeah, so-so
18. U2 With Or Without You - far from one of their best, in fact one of their worst
19. Supertramp School - dunno this one, but was only listening to one of their albums recently
20. Guns N' Roses Sweet Child Of Mine - like the degustation menu at a michellin star restaurant, a wonderful journey.

Cheers! Michael

Ooooo! Talk about a blast from the past.

This is what you've got to know
even though it doesn't show...
Da-da-da.

And Safety Dance should be on you list. Along with Pop Goes the World.

There's also a satanic message in that song when it's played backwards

A top 5 without Eilert Pilarm, is just a top 5 without Eilert.
