I'd like to do some traveling, I haven't been able to organise friends to go. Where do you even start to plan these things? I was thinking probably Australia first. Where would most people start? Mainly for people to travel with?

I would start in the Travel Companions Forum. So to help things along for you, I've moved this thread.

Though, from most of the threads posted about travel with friends, or just others in general, many of the replies have been to start off alone and travel with people you meet along the way. Hopefully this forum will help you get started with your planning.

well it all depends on where your wanting to go and what your wanting to see .... i suggest you lay a map of the world out and try to plan an initial itinerary.

alot go alone on such adventures - which if confident enough is often suggested - least then you have your own freedom and this way also gives you the incentive to meet other like minded travellers along your way.

I'm not that interested in Thailand/Asia type thing. More Australia, NZ, North America. Has anyone ever done these trips without a group of friends from home?

im sure their are plenty of peeps on here who have done this also & are willin to give you encouragement

dude oz is a good place to gey started. as far as travelling with friends , most people who have done it get seperated along the way, (just general differences) no worries you meet so many people in the same boat as yourself along the way ,I would equate it to a sorta journey of self awarness you go through at least for myself theres lots of guidance through hostels and just in the general oz backpakers culure along the way nz is another great place to get your feet wet.

Is it better to start off in Western Australia & gradually head East if you want to hit NZ at some stage?
