Yeah, and early on (before we'd caught on to him) a couple of his threads were featured, which counts for a lot in the system.

By the way, I noticed Sandy456 is a Respected Member...
And the only thing he/she did was asking questions: no answers, no photos, no blogs, no nothing. Haven't checked the guide though, but that seems out of the question.

So, how is that possible?

Well, unlike most regulars here, none of his 200 posts is in Off-topic forum. :) And I believe at least 90% of his post are thread starters.

Never knew that a thread starter alone is more worth than actually answering in a decent way?

Me neither, and it's interesting to discover particularly as i very rarely actually start threads. I'll have to remember that for when i fall down back into the full member category!

Possibly controversial, but if we all started marking Sandy's posts as spam, how would the moderators feel? Would they reinstate the posts? I've not come across the person much, but they are obviously trying to gather for a guide somewhere, and frequently asking the same stuff on several forums, and any number of very samey questions just for different places. And at teh same time, denies teh whoel thing, and sounds all indignant when somebody queries it.

As they only ever start posts and don't offer anything to the forums, and it's (at least fairly likely) being done for profit, i'd be inclined to give them one more warning, and if any other post like that appears on any forum, just ban him/her/it/they completely.
I've no problem replying to posts and even doing bits of research first, but not for people that aren't genuine travellers or are just trying to play the system - and they do seem to generate some responses for people answering in good faith, which isn't right. Just kick him off TP completely and be done with it.

If the spam flagging is justifiable according to the category, we will delete the post. Otherwise, we will have to remove the flag.

Starting a featured thread is. Just creating a very large amount of threads won't get you anywhere - it's only those threads which have become worthwhile to read to such a degree that they're worth featuring (either through the ensuing discussion, or because of valuable information contained therein, or because it's asking a question quite out of the ordinary which forum moderators feel to be of interest to many more people than would otherwise see it).

I would, and I would strongly ask you to stop. His posts aren't breaking any forum rules, and you don't need to notify the moderators about them, since we're all quite aware of them already.
You can add a single note to any new thread of his to notify new members of the circumstances so they can decide for themselves if they want to spend time replying (same as I did here). You can also rate his posts lowly, if you don't think they add any value to the forum. Beyond that, it's up to Sam and Peter to decide which, if any, action should be taken.

Obviously many forums have eventually decided to ban him, and it might be that they'll conclude the same. But doing this is not an action which is taken lightly, and such a decision is up to them, not to us (so we should guard against trying to take justice into our own hands; a "mob mentality" doesn't help anyone).

Wow, you people conspire a lot.

I guess you will never believe i'm just a world traveler on a never ending journey looking to maximize personal knowledge?

Well if you don't want to believe it, I will stop trying to convince you.

And you are welcome for the london ideas I posted here. How come you didn't thank me for that? You expect thank you's, but don't send them my way when spend hours online researching ideas for this forum (and others), and ask for only ideas in return. How terrible of me.

Maybe we would believe you when you uploaded photos, make a travel map, write a blog, answer questions of others (because you should know a lot by now). And the information in your original post of London is mainly provided by memebers on this site and probably many others.
So where have you been travelling over the last weeks?

Your latest post would be better off added to the Travel Guide rather than posted in the forums. When you actually answer someone else's question (in their thread) then maybe a thank you will be in order. Just posting a "Best of Such & Such" doesn't quite qualify as answering people's personal requests. I can get the same info from a Lonely Planet Guide. But, I digress.

most of the latest list is taken from previous threads or can be found in the guidebooks, is it not possible to 'bar' sandy ?? I know its not the easiest solution etc but its been done once before..... i spotted a few incorrect items on the list but because i feel like sandy is using the site for monetary gain i don't feel inclined to help or point them out and thats not really fair on other travellers ....
