I need help urgently here. Anyone can advice me on what would be the cheapest mode of transport to travel from Budapest to Croatia and subsequently to Florence? By train? By air? How long would the travelling journey take?
I took a really cheap (50 Dollars) train ticket from Budapest (6pm-ish) to Trieste stopping in Lujbiana, Slovenia, around 2am. From there you can get easily to Croatia - Zagreb? To Florence ur best flying maybe?
You can take the train to Zagreb from Budapest, (about 6 hours if I remember correctly) - from there I would try and take a cheap flight to Florence or closeby.
If that's too expensive, you can take a bus or train(more expensive but really worth it - about Euro20) to Split, then take the overnight ferry to Ancona and finally from Ancona a train to Florence.
I think you'll be best served flying if you can as the price of overland transport in Italy (when it's running) is a bit high. I haven't tried but maybe there's a flight from Split to Florence - I doubt it but worth a look.
Other than that, go to a transport or trucking company in Zagreb and see do they have any drivers going as far as Florence.
Best I can do for you I'm afraid.
Apparantly after checking online, flights from Budapest to Venice is expensive! Would it be better to travel by train from Budapest to Venice? How long would it take? Any website where i can check out the ticket prices and book online? Thanks.
