Thanks for the info and comments on pollution, I feel much better about going. We were signed up to go to china several years ago and SARS became a big concern and we were advised not to go.
Another question, did you use a Visa service to get your visa for China or did you do it your self? I live in Costa Rica and China has an embassy here.
Thanks for the help.
I have always used visa services for Chinese visas, even though I used to live about 1 mile from the Chinese embassy in Ottawa. Just way easier that way. I know we can't advertise companies, but I have also used a visa place based in Houston and got great service. Not sure if you have to apply in the country of your residence or not. Google chinese visa Houston to see the info on their web site.
I went to the Chinese High Commision to make my visa and i get it after 3 days with less than 10USD.
Go ahead to get a visa to china, china is a amazing country with long history, charming landscapes, profund culture. And once you get your visa, take Lijiang, Tibet and Shangri-la and Xi'an into your consideration. I went those places last summer. I love those places so much and I'm planning another tour to there now.
