the only reason, why we are not gonna go and travel again soon is (and I'm talking about a big trip like ARW), because we've got enough of starting all over again (meaning: having to quit your job to go and travel for a few months and then try and find one again when you come back and all the other things envolved with leaving your homecountry, moreover we've just bought some land, but that wouldn't stop us from going anywhere). Apart from that I don't wanna apply for visas all the time again and get maybe rejected... we've had it too many times before...

When we left NZ/ZA and tried to settle down here in Austria, the travel bug was going mad inside me. It's like in the movies: 'devil' travel bug on one shoulder, the little angel on the other. The little angel won for the moment, but definitely not for the 'rest of my life'. The only thing I did, was to ignore the travel bug (as much as possible) It's like when you r sick: you can give all your attention to your virus and pain, moan and groan, or you can try to make the best of it (catch the bug, put it in a jar and close the lid firmly, with some air left to breathe *g*).

One day being back at home out of a sudden I realised that there's other countries I know better than my own homecountry (how sad is that?)
So now we will spend our precious time 'travelling' in beautiful Austria (and hopefully Europe).

i know how you feel james, sometimes it feels like just as i am hitting my travel stride, I have to go home! half the time i long to take off RTW, but now, the other half of me loves to nest. i quit my job for my RTW trip and realized soon after that i could never have a full time job again. it just doesn't work for me. here i am, 8 years later, with a husband, a home, a dog, a garden and a small business, and i am always dreaming of taking off! we still find ways to travel a couple of months a year. maybe not for 6 or more months at a time, but that's okay. the craving to be gone for such a long time isn't as strong now at 34 as it was at 26. also, we have found new ways to pay for our travels that we couldn't have done 8 years ago. its just different. plus, our travel priorities are slightly different, so we have to compromise about where to go and what to do. if it involves cricket or rugby or ZA, i can sway him to my cause! someday, i see us living between our two countries, finding different routes to go back and forth, seeing new things, new places, meeting new people all the time.
