Hey All,

Got a fair bit of time to kill in Bangkok (16th Dec- 21st Dec). Have been there before but other than floating market and the temples I'm a little lost on what to do. Any ideas much appreciated.

Cheers

Explore Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi. or just go to Poipet and enjoy the casino there.

In Bangkok, if you like shopping, you can try MBK, Chatuchak (Weekend) and Suan Lum Night Baazar.

You could go to Pattaya. Hotels are cheaper than Bangkok, transportation cheaper, etc. Even some cheap hotels have pools. Basic accommodation with air, private toilet, TV etc. start around 500 to 1000 baht. This is high season now, off season you can find hotels with air starting around 330 baht.

Yes, there are some bars around but you can ignore them if you want, sort of like passing by the bars in Pat Pong or Nana. The beach is only good for sunbathing, walking, shopping and eating. Most tourists do not swim at the beach, water could be cleaner! Modern malls, movie theaters, travel agents for arranging tours and some good restaurants. Good place to relax at.

From Bangkok you can take a cheap bus for around 120 baht from the Ekamai bus station. Depending on the arrival time at the airport you may be able to leave directly from the airport to Pattaya by bus.

Have you ever been to Kao San Road? It's very popular! There are so many cheap accommodations too (be prepared for their conditions though)

A boat trip down the klongs (canals) is an interesting exeprience, and Jim Thompson's house is worth a visit: http://www.jimthompsonhouse.com/

Ko Samet and Ko Chang are 2 nice islands a few hours drive from Bangkok.
