If it wasnt for bad luck we would have no luck whatsoever - every corner we seem to turn just throws another obstacle in our way. Yet more challenges to over come. Another challenging 6 month tour and separation to endure as of Sept.

The line is "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all". (Paul Butterfield Blues Band). But, you have my sympathies and didn't mean to be sarcastic with the lyric line. (Hey, you know me.) Just when you thought everything was falling into place. All will go well. You also know I know these things. Here are big hugs to keep all of you safe.

The clouds in the sky made me frown today, it's been sunny all week and then it gets to the weekend and the sun has decided to go MIA. :(

Also I have a bite on my foot. I suppose things could be worse though

Does anyone have any spare sunshine? x

I didn't call my bestest friend of 38 years yesterday for his birthday. That, in and of itself, is not unusual. I always remember his birthday and he never remembers mine. So, we never call each other on the exact day of our births. It's become a game we play when it comes to birthdays and we laugh about it.

What made me frown is that both of his parents (both in their mid/late 80s) didn't remember his birthday. His father has Alzheimer's disease so I understand that one. His mother is dealing with several other health conditions which require several medications. I take for granted those issues/meds play into her memory loss. I can accept all of that. But...

I just wasn't aware, until today when I called to wish him a belated happy birthday, how much things had progresses/digressed. I wish I could turn back the clock 24 hours or better yet, 24 years. We talk to each other regularly and it seems I get the 'upbeat' version of how things are going with his parents. (They have been my 'second set of parents' for these 38 years. Okay, third as I am an adopted child to begin with, but they have always been there for me.)

We'll be seeing them in June. That makes me smile.

Thanks for the hugs, H! And, I know you are correct - shit happens but I just don't want it to be to the people who mean so much to me. (Trust me, there's a big bucket of people who better hang around or I'll be really angry. Just lost two I'd not even met.)

On the upside - well not for beerman - he gets to paint their stucco chimney while we're there. Thankfully, it's a single-story house. He volunteered to help with projects that needed doing.

"How did you spend your 50th birthday?"

"On a roof painting a chimney."

Okay, he get's to do more fun stuff too. ;)
