What does everyone do when you are hiking or backpacking and you've all of a sudden GOTTA go to the bathroom? I personally hate when this happens and I am new to all of this. I don't know what to do. One of the reasons I hate this is because of the smell, but I started taking these pills -snip- which took care of that issue. Now I don't like it because it's just gross. I feel like I am ruining the environment. Please only serious replies!

Find a quiet spot behind a tree/rock/bush. Dig a hole first (one of several reasons to take a hand shovel when hiking - but a stick can do the trick as well), do your thing, then cover the hole again.
Just make sure there's no snakes in the neighbourhood while you're having your 'moment'!
I agree with Peter. But, if you can't find a nice secluded place - dig your hole, moon your travel companions so they look away and do what comes naturally. Oh, hide their cameras first. You're not ruining the environment but adding to the building of "soil stuff" (bacteria, nutrients, biodegradable material, etc.) Look at it this way - everyone hiking with you will have to "do their business" too. Picture them in the same silly pose of leaning against a tree or rock. It makes it less of an issue and will give you a giggle at the same time. (As they say, does a bear sh*t in the woods? YES! And they're bigger.)
