Passport or ID card to Morocco?

Travel Forums Africa and The Middle East Passport or ID card to Morocco?

I guys! I just entered the forum and I first of all great all of you!:):)

Then I have a question for those of you who travelled to Morocco: Is it possible to get in just with the ID card (from Italy)? I acctually still have to renew my passport and I don't think I'll have enough time (at least for a sufficiently long holiday...):(

and I also remember that 4 yrs ago I entered in Morocco by boat from Tarifa using just my ID card...
but I've heard rumours as:
-you can get in by car and not by plane...
-you can get in only if you have booked a reservation...
-you maybe get in and maybe not...

so... what do you think?

Thank you very much

Gianluca

Just by coincidence I was looking for plane tickets with Ryanair to Marrakesh today. When I clicked Marrakesh as my destination it said that for that destination my passport had to be valid for at least 6 months! So I guess because you are also from a EU country, the same applies. I would be surprised if an ID card is enough. For Dutch people it is only valid for EU countries if I am correct.

yes normally you can use the ID only in EU contries but there they sometimes allow you to get in anyway ...(as confirmed by some travel agencies I asked)

The problem is to know if it's the good time or the bad time!

some yrs ago I went from Spain(Tarifa) to Tangeri by boat just with my ID!...

so are you also planning a trip in Marocco?

Well, just maybe. We want to do a short trip to some warmer place after moving to our new house. Next trip is only in June...that's just too long to wait, so I guess a short trip to Morocco would be nice. Marrakesh and surroundings. Probably 2 days is more than enough for me in that city

Hi Guys! how was then your trip in Morocco? Mine was great. I eventually waited for the Passport, then I visited Marrakech, Essaouira, Tarazoute and I went to Toubkal.

Your impressions?
