The Andaman in Langkawi? how much is the internet rate u got?
If i'm not mistaken ..it's one of expensive resorts in Langkawi..followed by Datai or Tanjung Rhu..
the price is closed to whopping RM1k per night!
I've stayed at Berjaya Resort in Redang.. it's pretty nice.. with nice private beach and chalet styles rooms. it's very quiet..less crowd than Laguna resort in Redang..which is fairly new but crowded with youngsters.
Well..even it's wet season..it doesn't rain 24 hours a day.. even it rains, for a short period.max.2 hours.. though water wouldn't be that clear for snorkelling during wet season.
You can fly to Redang. I would go to Redang wihtout a doubt.
emmm... andaman always hav special rate for malaysia it's only cost you RM420 (use to be RM399) anyway i think its a good deals. I've stay there twice (in fact i'm going back next mth for my birthday celebration with couple of my friends ) and it's very good place if you want to relax.
And of course the east coast island better than langkawi coz it's in open sea but if you are going to spend less time on travelling than Langkawi is the best choice coz it only take 45min and you land directly on the island ..
just back from Langkawi from 4 days 3 nights trip.
nothing so great about this island except that liquor is so cheap..
coke was RM1 to RM1.20, can of beer was as low as Rm1.50 to RM1.90 for imported beers.. no way you can get this price in KL.
The weather was so hot n humid..
Beach near those resorts was not clear at all..
i was at Berjaya Resort.. and I would say it's more like Port DIckson beaches.. unless you take a boat to go for those another small islands..
but honestly nothing beats East Coast islands..
Tioman has direct flight too which lands directly into the island itself.
so travelling shdn't be a problem i suppose..
Kinda disappointing with my trip to Langkawi... RM18 for Underwater world is too over priced i guess..
But waterfall was gooood...
the water so icy cold..with nice trees arounds.. and monkeys!!
btw, Cairel, happy birthday to u in advance
Beaches at Langkawi like those at Port Dickson
Is it really that bad? As far as I can remember from my last visit in the late 1990's, beaches at Port Dickson were really bad. Are you sure the one in Langkawi is just as bad? (I have not been to Langkawi before )
There's a saying, "Once you've been to the beaches on the east coast, you'll never want to visit those on the west coast anymore." To all of you out there, this is true!
I thought Langkawi, Pangkor and certain parts of Penang would be exceptional, because they are in a class of it's own, as compared to other beaches on the west coast.
If what you say is true, then sadly, Langkawi will drop a notch or two in my list of places to visit.
p/s: Cairel, Happy Birthday to you in advance too!
I remember my last visit to Langkawi was 10 yrs ago.. n i had good memory of its island so wanted to give another shot to visit the place..
but was really disappointing.. yah.. i guess once u've been to East Coast, you wouldn't wanna visit West Coast again..
Honestly, beach was very bad.. and water..not sure whether it's because of raining that made sea unclear...
if u want to visit langkawi for beaches.. please rethink!
Went to Balck Sand Beach.. only partial of it was black..
not sure whether it's "natural" or due to oil n sewage leak from the pipe that was running through right in the sand from the nearby restaurant..
I won't go to LAngkawi for beach holiday again for sure..
unless i wanna get wasted every night..then it's another diff.story
It has been sometimes didn't really check out the forum.
Well...for me I haven't been to Tioman yet .
Anyone organizing any 3D2N trip there??
But've been to Langkawi a couple of times.
Langkawi will be ideal in the sense of conveniency such as by flight, by highway where it's much easier to reach compare to Tioman.
But interm of white sandy beach, I bet Tioman should hold the upper hand. Langkawi beaches are "so-so" but not too bad. If ur make it to Langkawi make sure u go to those islands hoping. Small island out there are much nicer and white sandy beach can be located.
Overall, though I've not been to Tioman before, I believe if to do a comparison of both, I'll definitely to choose Tioman than Langkawi. Langkawi has been developing quite heavily in these few years. I'll prefer some nice islands that unspoilt, so called "virgin"!
Perhentian Island, Survival Island, Sipadan will top my list.
But guyz (frm Malaysia), don't u think Redang is on the curve of developing and it's quite a harsh too?
