zmey has indicated that this thread is about Ecuador

hello

we (a couple) are going to ecuador for two weeks in a week. we are landing in quito on december 24th, staying there for a few days, then renting a car and trying to make a big loop around the country. any suggestions where would be a good/interesting place to stop for the new year celebration?

also, any tips, suggestions as to places to avoid for safety reasons are greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance,
kristaps

for the end of the year maybe around Guayaquil/Salinas the coastal aerea.
Latinos like to celebrate with the family and go after midnight maybe out to discos.
Cuenca or Banos could be a nice place to celebrate New Years evening.

for safty,I.m every year 2-3 times in Ecuador, dont know about dangerous places, never felt unsafe,
Just use your common sence as you do in your home town.

We were in Ecuador at the same time of the year a few years ago. We spent Christmas in
a fabulous lodge in the cloud forest high up in the jungle about two hours outside Quito. It
is run by a British guy, very relaxed, very friendly and beautiful, and is actually an eco
project as well.

We then went on a Galapagous cruise over the New Year period.

In Quito we stayed at the Cafe Cultura, a central hotel which is an old house so
loads of charm and character.

Hope this helps, have a great time.

Another Lodge I can suggest in the area of Mindo is Reserva Ecologica Pachijal

www.pachijalreserve.com

They offer accomodation and some quite interesting Wildlife Viewing packages 3.4.5.6 days long.
It is a bit closer to the Village of Mindo than Bellavista and they have 40km trails in the Forest
