I lost my camera last week which was a pain but it wasn't that great anyway. I had a Pentax Optio S7 and so am looking for something similar size and price range but that a great night focus/vision. I'm going to Hong Kong for Lunar New year and so I am hoping to capture some good images. My budget isn't that much - prob $500AUD tops and I just wondered which cameras any of you guys have and if you had any recommendations?
I just got this Canon Digital Rebel XT SLR Camera for a couple of days, it is a SLR camera and takes great pictures in automatic modes. It has faster speeds (start-up and shot-to-shot), excellent image quality, and terrific look-and-feel, really works well. Despite my personal preference for Nikon pro-level gear, I can recommend this Canon d-SLR to my friends without reservation.

The Canon SLR previously recommended is a fine camera - but huge by comparison to your Pentax Optio S7. A camera close in size (subcompact) to the Optio is a Canon SD1000. Very similar to the Optio and has an optical viewfinder which the Optio lacks. And it currently sells in the US for about $170.
Sony A350... good for very thing, but a little over budget
