I'm planning a 3 week trip to NE America and Canada. My trip plan is:
LONDON - BOSTON - MONTREAL - (2 day trip to either Quebec or Ottawa) - NEW YORK - LONDON
I'll be taking the greyhound between all these places. I know the horror stories but hey it's cheap, lol.
So is Quebec or Ottawa best???
I love Ottawa and it's a pretty city, but go to Quebec City - by all means. I've been at least 15 times and it never gets dull. It's breathtaking, unique, interesting. I can't recommend it enough.
That's a tough one. Both cities are worth visiting. In this moment I have to agree with tway, go to Québec city, especially vieux-Québec (the historical part of town). Also the French immersion is also exciting. The bus isn't so bad. You may want to check out this website, it's like organized hitch hiking, I've used this service in the past, people post rides and you pay your share of the gas : http://www.allostop.com/english/default.htm
Also check out Craigslist for rides http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites.html
I'd usually recommend Quebec City because of its European flare, you really do feel like you've gone across the Atlantic. However, if you're from Europe.. I'm not sure if it'll have the same effect. If your interested in Canada, I'd say a visit to Ottawa is a must.
