Have a long weekend trip coming up to Phenom Penn next month. What is the cost of living like in Phenom penn. I'd just like to get a ball park figure on how much I should take.

Thanks

Getting a single fan room in PP is around 5 dollars, most times with bathroom attached. Figure on around 0.5 to 1 dollars for moto rides around town, and a bus ticket to Sihanoukville is around 4 dollars. For me i budgeted around 25 dollars a day, it got me decent accomodation, good food (the markets are often a cheap and good source of food) and covered transport costs as well.

I pay $6/nite for a fan room close to the Capitol GH $ Restaurant. Figure $10 for an a/c room. Food is as cheap as Thailand. Most meals for us are under $3 in a sit down restaurant. You can eat at the Capitol GH for $2 a meal. You can rent a moto for $3/day or use moto dops and spend about $2/day getting around. $20/day should cover your major expenses. Add extra for tours and shopping.

I stopped on the Lake (backpacker area) at the Green Lake Guest House and paid $6 for a room which slept four people (although one of the beds was a mattress on the floor and we had a cold shower).

Food and drink is cheap in this area too.

One of days we hired a driver to take us to the Killing Fields and S21 camp and this cost us $5 for all day. A motorbike journey of about 2 hours (one hour each way) with the driver waiting for me cost $2.

Hope that this helps

Lucy :)

Yeah i stayed there , was a preet cool guest house , nice food aswell , and plenty of beer
you see some huge rats crawling from the lake though , its quite amusing when you wake up and some guy is hacking at small hole in the wall with a kitchen knife trying to kill a rat .
