I was trying to log my trip to Tenerife and looked for it under Spain but it's not there. The dot just appears in the middle of Spain as a default. Can someone help, please?

Hi Angela,
You can either fill in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the dot will appear on approx. the right spot and enter another town you visited afterwards.
Or you can just select it on the map, zoom in on the Canary Islands and click where you went first if it is not shown as a place in the list.
In general, it only recognizes cities and other town/villages etc. But often (and this happens more in Spanish language countries) there are loads of places with the same name, so check your map carefully if it is the right one. It doesn't recognize islands, provinces or the like, at least not in Spain when I tried it.

As Utrecht mentions, islands aren't usually included, but cities and even small towns are included, so you should be able to actually pinpoint the destination much better. You can also choose the 'select on map' option to place the stop whereever you want it on the island and give it your own name.

Your post inspired me to actually do a blog post on the issue. As you can see from my zooming in, there seem to be quite a few places to choose from on Tenerife!!

Sam: seen in that blog post, the "previous" and "table of contents" links are hovering over the text somewhere in the next to last paragraph. (Possibly because I don't have flash and that map thus doesn't render regularly for me?)
Adding clear: left; to p.entry_nav fixes.

Hmm, it works for me (and tested in safari, opera, ie6/7). I had to do some fancy css there because of how the classes were allocated so specifically tested that one. I'll add the clear:left anyway and see if it doesn't break it :)
