Hi there

I just wanted some feedback from others on what type/size of pack they used for the Inca Trail and any other 2-5 day treks.

I'm a bit stuck because I read somewhere that a 25l pack was recommended. I will obviously have my main pack but I don't really want to empty and take that, other than this I will have a daypack but the one I was planning to get is only 15l and I had it more in mind for day trips etc.

Is it possible to rent packs from the tour operator or should I just buy a larger day pack and use that?

Thanks

Sophie

Well I think it depends on if you are getting a porter or not. When I did the trip some people had a porter the whole time and a small daypack is all they needed. At camp the porters would drop off their large pack. If you are not getting a porter then a 25L will be more than enough. You will bring alot more than you need.

15 Ltr might be enough, but don't panic too much as you can buy rucksacks all over cusco or bags that you may be able to get the porters to carry. But you probably won't need to carry too much a washbag, a dry set of clothes and a wet set plus a few changes of undies should sort you out.

You might be able to rent from the tour operator, you'd have to check with them though.
