My family (two adults and two teens) were thinking of where we might like to vacation during the summer and we thought of a trip to Japan and maybe someplace else in Asia (Vietnam, China...). We are just in the early stages of planning a trip and finding out more information about the places we'd like to visit and what we'd like to do. Does anyone have any recommendations from people who have done similar family trips to Asia? Thanks for your help.:)

Japan is a great place to visit. But it can be expensive.

You could go to other countries in Southeast Asia that would be less expensive for the 4 of you.

You could do Thailand and Malaysia or Thailand and Vietnam for instance. Thailand is very organized when it comes to tourism. Transportation is good, hotels are much cheaper than Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

When you Google up "Asia Family Travel" or Traveling in Asia with a family" or "Traveling in Thailand with a family" you get lots of hits.

Good luck. (Be careful your "teens" may fall in love and want to stay in that area!)

I have not been to Japan so cant comment on that, but i would definately recommend spending some time in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

Your teens would love Malaysia and Singapore with lot of entertainment around. In Malaysia u can visit the Genting and Cameroon highlands for fun and entertainment.

For Singapore, i would suggest u the following for 3 days:

Day1: Full day in Sentosa Island, its really worth it
Day2: Visit the Zoo, Jurong bird park, evening take the night safari
Day3: Visit the Esplanade area, city hall, fullerton hotel area, Marina bay , Merlion park

Do let me know if u need more info about Malaysia and Singapore

cheers
Arif

hi daspler,

if you have not finalized your family trip by this time... you may also try to check out the Philippines... which is a bit off the common tourist trail... the Philippines has a lot of beautiful beaches you can select from.. aside from our natural wonders and some historic sites..

;)
