Hi there.

Just wondering where would be the cheapest place to buy a LCD monitor. I will be travelling to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and if time Hong Kong.
I know Hong Kong has real cheap prices on electronics and would probably be the best, but I might not have time to go to Hong Kong and would like to know where else would be a good place to get great prices on a LCD monitor.

Thx.

Thailand - Pantip Plaza, Bangkok
Malaysia - Low Yat Plaza, Kuala Lumpur
Singapore - Sim Lim Plaza

all these are the electronic centers

Depends on where you are from if you will get a bargain! Some countries like Canada and the U.S. often sell these items on sale at cheaper prices than what you might find overseas. And the warranty will be good too!

If the country you come from has high tariffs on imported electronics and in general the electronics is expensive you might get a good deal when you are on your travels. However, you also have to lug that big box home!

I agree with what Frosty said.

But based on experience, HK is cheaper compared to Singapore, Malaysia or Thailand. Most of our electronics are ordered from HK and brought here in the Philippines. You just have to find a trusted seller there.

Im coming from Australia. Im not sure how much tax is put onto electronics, but i've been to Hong Kong before and got a camera there for less then it cost on ebay (before postage to Australia). So I know that H.K is alot cheaper then even discounted sale items in Australia.
As I might not make it to H.K in time, I'l get a monitor from one of the other three countries, im not sure how good the prices are in Thai, Malay, and Singapore, but I assume they wil be better tehn aus. I will do some research on the local prices before I leave in January so I know if i'm getting a good deal or not.
The last place I will be is Thailand, then a very short stop over in Singapore, then back to Melbourne. So i get it in Thai, I won't be carrying it for to long. Would you say its cheaper to get it from Thai, or Singapore? and the places would be great!

Thx again.

Sometimes the best deal you get is the one in your head!

Do some homework before you put your money down. Before you leave home, check out the prices of several items that you want to buy back in your hometown or the cheapest place you can get electronics where you live. Record as many possible items that you would get on your travels. This way you can refer to your price list and convert the Baht to AU$ and see if you ACTUALLY have a good deal!

Warranties are another thing to think about. Sometimes an electronic item you purchase in one country with a new warranty - that same warranty may not be recognized in your home country when something has to be repaired for free! Some warranties are transferable some are not!
