Travel Forums Central/South America & The Caribbean Accomodation in Rio & Buenos Aires

Hi. I'm looking for affordable accomodation in Rio and Buenos Aires. I'll be travelling for two weeks and I plan on spending about 1000 USD total once I get there. The hotel cost will be split in half so I just want something clean, nice view, private bathroom, hot or at least warm shower, maybe ac, possibly t.v... Or just the best double room I can get for 30USD or less.

I have no idea about hotel or hostel prices in these places so any suggestions and tips will be greatly appreciated. I just wanna make sure we can do a few fun activities, sightsee, eat some good food, go to the beaches, and shop just a little.

Thanks,

David

You can probably get a hostel for $30.USD a day in Rio... I doubt you would be able to stay in a decent Hotel in Rio. Apartments are another option.. You might be able to find a 1 bedroom apt. in Rio with a sleep sofa for about $60-$65.USD a day.... Depending on when you travel A/C might be VERY important..

Thanks for the feedback, guys. So, what are the hostels like in Rio? Are they clean with windows, AC, hot water, t.v, good security? If not, how much more for a decent hotel that will have these things?

Thanks,

David

For Rio see Mellow Yellow.

I stayed there in a double room for circa 30 bucks a night. My favourite of around 16 or 17 hostels in SA so far.
Great bar, brilliant cost effective activities, top staff and amazing meals at good prices every day something different. A few blocks from Copacabana, 5 min walk. Has air con.

For Bs As

I have stayed in both Tango City and Che Lagarto. Both 50 peso's per person per night in a double. So around 30 bucks for the room. The first is way better. In San Telmo area. Very nice.

Che doesnt have air con. MASSIVE downside. I am sweating to heck the now.
